Lamacchia Cares Initiative Granted Charitable Status as a Foundation

It was announced at the Lamacchia Realty Company-Wide Corporate outing on Thompson Island last Friday, August 11, 2023, that the Lamacchia Cares initiative has been granted 501(c)(3) recognition and has been approved as a charitable foundation by the IRS and Commonwealth of Massachusetts. From 2017 until the present, Lamacchia Cares was the Company’s charitable giving initiative that supported and raised funds for local causes.

The predominant focus of the initiative was to raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital through their Corporate Cup for which they were the top fundraiser in 2022, second highest fundraiser in 2023, and as well through their annual toy drives.  The Company has also fundraised for Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the American Red Cross, and more. In November 2022, Boston Children’s Hospital honored Anthony and the Company’s top fundraisers by presenting them with a $231,000 check. This check symbolized the funds raised for BCH by Lamacchia Cares from 2017 to 2022, alongside a guided tour of the hospital’s recent developments that were made possible through these contributions.

As much as the company, and the Lamacchia family in particular, is very passionate about Boston Children’s Hospital, Anthony recognizes that there are other causes that are important and need help.  For example, last fall when Florida was severely hit by Hurricane Ian, Anthony and several REALTORS, clients, and employees of the Lamacchia Companies were offering to donate money, it became abundantly clear that it was time to create a mechanism to collect money through a foundation and properly pay it out to various causes.  This is what motivated Anthony and the group to finally achieve the goal of creating this foundation, something that has been discussed for years but had been put off due to the Company’s extreme growth and various other initiatives.

"I’m super excited to have the Lamacchia Cares Foundation officially approved by the IRS, the state of Massachusetts, and fully launched. This is something that I have wanted to do for several years, as well as others in the company and in my family. We look forward to raising millions of dollars in the years to come and contributing to worthy causes. I felt it was necessary to develop a Board of Directors to ensure that we are applying the Foundation’s funds to causes in various avenues as seen by these trusted members. I personally remain committed to fundraising for Boston Children’s Hospital but look forward to expanding our philanthropic efforts to other worthy causes."

For at least the first few years Lamacchia Realty, which is by far the largest Lamacchia company, will bear the financial burden of the costs associated with setting up and now running the foundation.

"Creating the Lamacchia Cares Foundation was something that we had discussed for years, and I am so excited that we are officially official. Being able to give back to our community and various other causes that are near and dear to us is so important. I am honored that I can be a part of this wonderful foundation and oversee handling all the donations. "
